Working With An Inkjet Printer

December 30th, 2007

After you first purchase a printer, the first step that needs to be done is to connect it to your computer. The majority of people use either a USB port or a parallel port, which should match up to the proper port on your computer. After you have plugged in your printer to your computer the printer will need to be synced up with the computer.

After the printer is hooked up properly, you should be able to print from any program. On a periodic basis the printer ink cartridge will need replacing when the old one runs out of ink. Because these cartridges vary from printer to printer, you should be mindful when it comes to buying the proper one to fit your model. Installation should be very easy and instructions should be included in the owner’s manual.

Inkjet Printers Advantages and Disadvantages

Inkjet printers have various advantages over other printing technologies. They are quieter and cheaper to operate, and have lower startup times than most. Also, inkjet printers are quite often less expensive than other printer technologies. Many can create very high quality images, which numerous other printers cannot do.

Unfortunately, inkjet printers often have trouble creating these higher quality images unless provided with specially treated paper, which is often very expensive. The ink cartridges can also be very expensive, and are often incompatible with other printer models.

The heads of an inkjet printer can sometimes be prone to clogging and flimsy as well. Lastly, the ink used by most inkjet printers is water soluble, and can be severely marred by even the smallest amounts of water. The images have the potential to be blurred even by highlighter markers.
